My friend takes her little girl to Toddler Sense and told me they both love it so much she wishes they did classes for adults 😄 So when we were invited to the Spooky Wooky Halloween party at Chorley Village Hall we jumped at the chance!
Even as a seasoned baby/toddler class-goer I still get a little apprehensive going somewhere new. But from the moment we arrived, the class leader Rachel put us at our ease. She greeted us like old friends and told the mini Mumbler to get stuck into all the equipment she’d just finished carefully laying out. Which of course, she did!
Each class starts with 30 minutes free play and, before long the room had filled with the cutest little witches and pumpkins who quickly got to work flinging themselves around on the inflatables, bouncy castle and ball pool, and playing in the spooky house and tent.
After refuelling themselves from the table of spooky snacks and juice, everyone gathered in a circle for the welcome song. Rachel is so full of energy and enthusiasm its hard not to join in! We didn’t know the words so mini Mumbler just banged her drumsticks on the floor and made the occasional ‘oooh’ noise.
Since it was the Spooky Wooky party, the games and activities which followed were all Halloween based – we danced in the dark to Ghostbusters with our flashing maracas, did a pumpkin conga around the room, chased flying bats and used a giant parachute to bob some apples and balloons up and down. It was brilliant!
After all the excitement it was time to relax and watch the spooky puppet show. The little ones were mesmerised by the shapes and figures dancing behind the screen – I heard one little boy say at the end ‘I loved that Rachel’ 😍
All too soon it was time for the Goodbye song. Mini Mumbler was distraught and kept shouting MORE! AGAIN! Luckily Rachel had a Halloween treat ready for them all as they left which went some way towards lessening the anguish!
All in all, Toddler Sense was a roaring success. Rachel was a teacher before she joined Toddler Sense and her experience with children really shone through. Her class was well structured and educational as well as being great fun. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she effortlessly managed to get the little ones to join in the songs and games – not an easy task in a room full of excited toddlers! If you’ve been looking for a class to do with your toddler I thoroughly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed!
