Marston Canal Festival

As part of Marston Canal Festival Lion Salt Works will take part in a weekend celebrating the rich history of the waterway that runs though the village and it’s importance in the production of salt. Join us for crafts, live performances, food and the opportunity to see some of our usually unseen collection.

⭐️ Wilmslow Library May Half Term Events
⭐️ Walton Hall and Gardens
Walton Hall and Gardens Warrington has a Kids’ Zoo, playground, duckpond and beautiful gardens. Last time we were there there were a couple of fairgound rides and a Thomas the Tank Engine Mini Railway giving rides around the grounds (for a charge).
It’s totally FREE to get in – you’ll pay for parking but the playground, gardens and zoo are all free. There are extras like pitch and putt and adventure golf which you pay extra for if you fancy having a go.
There’s a cafe selling sandwiches, drinks, cakes etc and a seating area.

⭐️ Glebe Farm
There are loads of animals to see at the lovely Glebe Farm in Astbury – Alpacas, Donkeys, Ponies, Goats and more, which are kept in the paddocks, fields and pens around the farm.
There are lots of lovely independent shops to mooch around, a play area and a great family friendly cafe with indoor and outdoor seating.

⭐️ Runway Visitor Park, Manchester Airport
Adjacent to the runways of Manchester Airport, the park’s raised viewing area means you can stand literally just a few metres away from the planes as they go past – perfect for any little plane enthusiasts!
There’s a large picnic area, coffee house, play area and a Shop, which stocks a range of plane-related souvenirs.
There are seasonal attractions including ice cream stalls and fairground – please check with the venue what’s on before you travel.

⭐️ Delamere Forest
The Forest is accessible by its own train station or there’s a large car park. It’s free to enter but parking charges apply.
There’s LOADS to do in the Forest – 3 walking trails, 2 cycling trails, Go Ape, Segway, Nordic Walking and lots more. There’s bike hire and a cafe as well.

⭐️ Museums
Lots of Museums in and around Cheshire are free to get in and are a fun day out with the kids. Nantwich Museum, Macclesfield Museums, Congleton Museums for example are all free to enter and sometimes hold workshops during the school holidays (sometimes chargeable but just a couple of quid) – please check with them directly as to whether there’s anything happening on your chosen day.
If you fancy heading into Manchester for the day the Science and Inssustry Museum is free to get in as is The Manchester Museum, The Whitworth and Manchester Art Gallery.
