Trying to keep your little ones cool in this heat can be really stressful. Mini Mumbler 1 was born in the middle of a heatwave and I spent the first few weeks of motherhood panicking when the Gro-Egg was constantly turning red and the thermostat was showing upwards of 30 degrees every day!
To help you keep your Mini Mumblers cool and comfortable as the temperatures soar, we’ve put together these simple top tips:-
1. Keep the blinds or curtains shut and the windows open
Keeping the curtains closed all day and the windows open behind them can really help keep the room cool. Plus it gives you one less job to do in the morning which is always a bonus!!
2. Fill the room with large bottles of frozen water
The bigger the better – use 1-litre bottles and over if you can fit them in the freezer. Freeze as many as you can, place them round your child’s room and they will cool the air as they melt.
3. Lots of cool baths
A slightly cooler than usual bath will help refresh your little ones (and you!) It’s also a good way to keep them busy when the temperature really soars and it gets too hot to spend long outside. Fill the bath with bath toys and let them splash around to their hearts’ content!
4. Damp towels or sheets
Dampen towels or sheets with cold water and hang them in front of an open window to bring the temperature down a few vital degrees.
5. Ice fan
When things really heat up, an electric fan can just blow the warm air round the room. But put a large bowl of ice in front of the fan and the air hot blows around will be cooler. Brilliant!
