Who doesn’t love a bit of puddle jumping, poo sticks and den building?! We’re lucky to have a vast amount of beautiful green and outdoor space in and around East Cheshire. We spoke to local parents to get their favourite spots for some outdoor fun with the kids, and have put together the following list based on the places that kept cropping up. These are just ‘open’ spaces – we haven’t included farms, zoos etc but there’s a whole section dedicated to them here
For a full list of child friendly Outdoor Spots in and around East Cheshire head over to our Great Outdoors section – click here.
We’ve got a whole section jam packed with ideas to keep the kids busy this Summer both at home and out and about – click here
NB – WE MUST STILL PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING SO IF A PLACE IS BUSY PLEASE TRY AGAIN ANOTHER DAY. SOME FACILITIES SUCH AS TOILETS MAY REMAIN CLOSED
❤️A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED PUT THIS LIST TOGETHER – AS ALWAYS WE COULDN’T PREPARE BLOGS LIKE THIS WITHOUT YOUR INPUT ❤️

⭐️Tittersworth Reservoir
As well as enjoying a family walk around the reservoir, there’s a fantastic playground suitable for 2-15 year olds, sandpit and an area suitable for wild play such as den building. Ample (paid) car park.
Leek, Staffordshire
⭐️Astbury Mere
All weather paths including one suitable for buggies. scooters etc. A nice easy walk with the little ones and plenty of grass to run around on/wooded areas to hide in. Paid car parking.

⭐️ Middlewood Way, Bollington
Natural attraction for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and nature lovers. Well surfaced routes suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. According to one mum, ‘The Middlewood way is easy and safe. You can park on Rugby Drive, Tytherington and go from the rugby fields there’.

⭐️Rudyard Lake
Rudyard Lake provides walkers with many opportunities, including a brief stroll along the shore and a walk all the way round the lake. One route is buggy friendly (although some have said it needs to be an ‘all terrain’ one). Lovely views of the lake. Car parking.
Rudyard, Staffordshire
⭐️Riverside Park, Macclesfield
Firstly, its not really a park! Its a nature reserve and one mum described it far better than we could so we’ll use her words! – ‘You walk along the river on one side and train tracks on the other (high up & completely safe). Wide, flat paths perfect for scooters/bikes; great for pooh sticks, train spotting and always lots of people with dogs which my two love! There’s a free car park with public toilets accessible by the side of Beech Hall school’
There are also plenty of areas to paddle, picnic and run around!

⭐️Teggs Nose
Very popular with families – picturesque walks which offer lovely views. Not all walks are suitable for buggies – the general consensus is to take a carrier or check which walks are accessible before you start out.
