If you’re looking for a lovely Halloween activity to do as a family at home, check out these Gingerbread Houses from local food company Festive Foodies – we tried one out and its great fun and very affordable – click here.

Trick or Treating will likely be a bit different this year….the prospect of the kids dipping their hands in various buckets of sweets seems a bit unlikely – whilst I’ve read that the risk in terms of covid transmission is in fact fairly low, there are bound to be many families who aren’t comfortable with the usual Trick or Treating format and I imagine there are also going to be a fair few people who want to get into the Halloween spirit but might not want lots of people knocking on their doors.

Having said that, lets not Covid 19 ruin our little ones’ Halloween fun!!! Let’s do a Pumpkin Trail!  Click here for more info!

Trick or Treat delivered to your home!

Trick or Treating might be a bit different this year due to COVID19, however at Pretty’s Sweets we want to deliver happiness to your homes. Surprise your children with our Halloween Trick or Treat box, jam packed with ghostly treats. Beautifully presented sweets with a halloween twist!

Halloween Edition boxes come in 2 sizes:

All Halloween Boxes will be posted w/c 26th October so that they arrive in time for Halloween.

Pumpkin Picking

🎃 For details of local pumpkin patches check out our blog here.🎃

Come and join us at Dunham Massey Farm Ice Cream for Pumpkin Picking and Halloween fun!

Our pumpkins have been organically grown in conjunction with Red House Farm (see their website here) and are perfect for carving and eating alike!

Whilst you are here enjoy a luxury hot chocolate or spiced pumpkin latte, and enjoy a scoop or two of our handmade artisan ice cream.  There will be a selection of hot food on offer, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and you may spot our friendly goats whilst you enjoy your time here at the farm.

In the parlour we have the lovely “Vintage Angel Home & Gift Shop” which will be open and selling a selection of seasonal gifts and decorations.

There is no need to book, just turn up and pay for your pumpkin (priced according to size). We recommend wearing wellies as pumpkin patches can get muddy. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome (please clear up after them and try not to let them scent the pumpkins!)

All the activities are outdoors, but social distancing guidelines will be maintained, with hand sanitising points and contactless payment encouraged where possible.

Pumpkin Picking takes place every weekend in October and then everyday during half term week from Monday 26th- Saturday 31st from 10am-4pm. If pumpkin picking isn’t your thing- don’t worry you can buy pumpkins which have already been picked everyday (even outside pumpkin picking times) from the ice cream parlour.

The parlour is open daily from 12-6pm during October, which serves hot food, tea, coffees, cakes and obviously our delicious ice cream.

Follow us on Facebook and Instagram (and occasionally Tik Tok) by searching for Dunham Massey Farm Ice Cream for future updates and get in touch with any questions not answered above!!

Kenyon Hall planted their first pumpkin over 30 years ago and are now one of the biggest pumpkin picking destinations in the north of England!

This year Kenyon Hall’s pumpkin season will run from Sat 3rd to Sat 31st October and to keep everyone safe they are limiting numbers to provide plenty of space for social distancing.

All visitors to any of the pumpkin areas – inside and outside – need to book entry tickets in advance. They cost £2 per person – adult or child. Infants under 18 months go free. Ticket holders can look forward to:

  • Access to the outdoor patch, with over 15,000 pumpkins grown this year.
  • Visiting the huge indoor display of ready-picked pumpkins of all shapes, sizes and colours.
  • Creating memories with the unique, pumpkin-tastic photo backdrops – new for this year!
  • Use of a wheelbarrow to carry pumpkins in from the patch.
  • Getting into the seasonal spirit with our Halloween characters, carving inspirations and pumpkin-themed food, drink and gift ideas.

Those wishing to carve their pumpkin at the farm and leave the mess there can access our carving den on the day for a small additional cost.

The farm shop, outdoor cafe, children’s play area and toilets are all open and car parking is free.

Tickets are selling out very quickly as this year they can only welcome a fraction of the 10,000s visitors they usually receive. Some dates are already sold out so book now to avoid disappointment!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️Those two weeks are ideal for families with pre-school children to head along and bag their pumpkins before the schools start half term!!! The patch will look lovely and the choice of pumpkins will be great.
