Toddler Mumbler is a massive Peppa fan. It’s replaced every so often nowadays by Paw Patrol but is still staple viewing at Mumbler HQ. So when we heard there was a class dedicated to all things Peppa we were pretty excited. And when we were invited to try it out we were there with bells on. Here’s how we got on…..
The aim of ‘Move with Peppa’ is to get preschoolers moving more, with each class being based on a different Peppa Pig episode. Ours was the one where Daddy Pig cleaned the car – I wasn’t surprised to realise I knew exactly what happened, having seen the episode approximately 75 times…
The class starts with each little one standing on their own muddy puddle arranged in a circle and doing dance/aerobic type moves to upbeat music. It felt like an aerobics class for preschoolers and mini Mumbler loved it. As the class progressed there was loads more dancing culminating in the ‘Daddy Pig Does Disco’ routine – a clear favourite with the regulars! Alongside the dancing, Jennifer, who runs the class, played various games with the littles ones and I was impressed by how she introduced an educational element – in one game for example, she got the kids to place the beanbags they were using to ‘clean the car’ on something on the Peppa floor picture of the same colour. There was also ball games, lots of running and some downtime when Jennifer told the little ones a story (about Peppa Pig of course!)
I really liked the way Jennifer interacted with the kids – she knew everyone’s name and talked to them affectionately, holding their hands and giving them spontaneous cuddles. The class was really relaxed and the little ones could join in or just run around as they wished. Some mums joined in (I couldn’t resist!), others just sat and watched – its entirely up to you and theres absolutely no pressure (other than from your mini Mumbler maybe..!)
We went to the Handforth class – the venue’s great because theres an adjoining cafe which the mums go to for a brew and chat afterwards. It’s a lovely cafe with a kids corner (activity cube, blackboard etc) and is about to be renovated so promises to be even nicer soon.
Move with Peppa Cheshire East & Stockport runs class in various locations and more classes are due to be added. For more information check out the Facebook page.
